Rumbleverse

In my work on Rumbleverse as a rendering engineer, I spent much of my time working to resolve tricky rendering issues emerging from a wide variety of systems. I was responsible for working with design to implement the large video billboards around the island. These were designed to show off the player cards of the various players in the game and involved both the asynchronous capture of other player’s character models (which may need to be loaded in and mesh merged, if the character has not yet been encountered) and rendering of UI overlays to the render target.

I also worked with design on the creation of an outline system which allowed players to see their teammates through walls. This was done via stencil bits, in order to keep performance cost relatively minimal, while still being flexible enough to fulfill design requests. During my work on the feature, I produced a wide array of mock-ups and example videos for design in order to ensure alignment on key details regarding the feature.
